How do I stop Windows Photo Gallery from attempting to install itself every time I go to the Internet?

Posted by admin on November 22nd, 2009 and filed under photo gallery | 2 Comments »

Whenever I start the Yahoo! browser, Microsoft attempts to ‘configure’ something called "Photo Gallery" and everything grinds to a complete halt!

Each time, I must click on ‘Cancel’ several times as it continually attempts to install/configure this software piece.

I can’t find it anywhere, even in the registry, to get rid of it.

Help!!!!!!!

Sometimes you can figure out what is causing this type problem by doing the following;

While the install message is up do a CNTL+ALT+DEL and select Task Manager. Click on the Application tab and see if there is an identifiable program running that you can then find via Start, Search and get rid of. You can also look under the Processes tab, then click CPU twice to get the programs using the most CPU at the top. The evil program might be one of the top 2 or 3 processes that show.

These are long shot techniques I’ve used in the past. Usually you can’t tell anything but it’s worth a try.

Good luck!

How do we feel about celebrities jumping on the green bandwagon?

Posted by admin on November 22nd, 2009 and filed under celebrities | 22 Comments »

A lot of celebrities are now going green because it is the trendy thing to do. How do you guys feel about that?

The thing about celebrities is that they are so highly visible to the rest of us. And since we tend to be herd-bound creatures, by and large, seeing someone do something good is actually a good thing. Yeah, I know it looks like hype, or maybe they’re doing it for the wrong reasons, but if it’s a good cause, I tend to overlook hypocrisy.

Best way to naturally enhance my engagement photos with photo editing software?

Posted by admin on November 22nd, 2009 and filed under photos | 2 Comments »

So we are getting engagement photos done by an amateur photographer for free. He’s giving us the CD at the end and I’m going to use photo editing software (probably Paint Shop Pro, maybe Photo Shop) to naturally enhance them a bit. They are being done mostly outside at Disney so I don’t think they’ll need much (I LOVE natural outdoor lighting), but still. I photo edit all the time, but I like a lot of contrast and everything. What are some good tips for NATURALLY enhancing them?

For balancing, curves are a marvelous tool, as they can be used to implement many other adjustments, such as contrast, mid-tone expansion, colour cast correction (by manipulating RGB separately).

In essence, with curves, you measure (colour picker) a point on the image, and then use curves to change the input values to the output values you want.

For instance, you can lighten shadows by setting a point near the low end, and then dragging it upward – many of the other adjustments, such as brightness/contrast, highlight/mid-tone/shadow can be achieved using the curves tool, with more precise control.

How do i transfer photograph images to a wall surface?

Posted by admin on November 22nd, 2009 and filed under images | 1 Comment »

A photo wall.
The interior wall surface is painted concrete. I want to create a collage of our family’s images over the years, i thought that it would be cool to transfer the images to the wall (like staining the wall with old pictures) like a dry transfer, instead of putting frames or sticking them on.

i posted this question to DIY category too.
oh i don’t like gluing them on. i really want a dry transfer, like what happens when a photograph accidentally sticks to your tabletop or to the plastic side of an album when you try to peel it off.

advance thanks!

why not just use decoupage glue.
