What questions should I ask a gallery rep who wants to show my paintings?

Posted by admin on December 19th, 2009 and filed under gallery | 2 Comments »

I’m meeting with a local gallery rep about my artwork. It’s my first time doing this. What questions should I ask? How many samples of my work should I bring (the actual canvases or just photos?)? Are there any forms I should have? Thanks to anyone who can help me out!

First visit just bring slides of your work. All you have!
Ask how much is the gallery’s commission.
Ask if you will be allowed to set up the show the way you want.
Ask if your attendance will be required and for how much of your time.
Ask if you will set the prices for your work.
Ask if you will decide which pieces get shown.
Ask how long the show will be in the gallery.
Ask if you will be responsible for any of the promotional expenses.

What is something funny i could make the bride and groom do during my speech?

My brother is getting married tomorrow and I want to trick them into doing something kind of embarassing but not dirty or anything during my speech. Has anyone heard of something funny or done it? Thanks!

How about you NOT embarass them. Would you want him to embarass you at your wedding?

Can I obtain photographs associated with a misdemeanor criminal case?

Posted by admin on December 19th, 2009 and filed under photographs | 1 Comment »

I can access the case via the county’s website, but I am interested in seeing the photographs entered as evidence in the case.

It was a misdemeanor assault case. The defendant pleaded guilty to a lesser charge.

In general, the answer is yes you can obtain the photographs from a misdemeanor criminal case.

The easiest way is to go to the Criminal Clerk of Court’s office and request to examine the criminal file. The files are open to the public unless it is a juvenile file or has been ordered closed by the Judge for some reason.

Another way is to call the prosecuting attorney. The attorney may provide you with a copy of the photographs. Nothing would prevent him from doing so, unless the victim asked him to keep the photographs private.

If Front Page is used to build your website, can you utilize an outside web gallery for the photo pg?

My husband and I are novice personal website builders..He currently uses front page 2003 and doesn’t like the photo gallery they use. Can you build your site with front page and use a different web application for your photo gallery page?

The short answer is "YES"! I haven’t personally used these referenced apps, but this website is of the same opinion as your husband regarding the photo gallery in FrontPage! It lists and describes several alternatives:

What is the law regarding taking photos in a public place?

Posted by admin on December 19th, 2009 and filed under photos | 3 Comments »

I like to record local history changes. Buildings under constuction, shops ect. Shop keepers say I am not alowed to take a photo of their shop and sometimes the situation gets nasty. I take photos decretly and also remove personal details like people and car nos from the data on my computer in case an alergation is later made that I am photographing people. Mind you the press often photograph people who don’t want to be and publish the the photos.
I also take photos of statues and have been told by ’security’ that I am not alowed to do this. Why? I am not on private land.

Dont listen to them, you can take pictures of anything you want as long as it is not "private property" which means you can not go on the store owners steps and snap pics without his or her permission.But you can stand on the "public" sidewalk or street to take your pic, And you can damn well take the pics of a statue those are bought with tax dollars.

How do I add text under a image on myspace? And align 2 images together and center them?

Posted by admin on December 19th, 2009 and filed under images | 1 Comment »

Ok, I want to know the code where you can align 2 images together and center them. Also I would like to know How to add text right below the images. Thanks!

…& here are the answers:

To put the text directly underneath an image, just use this code. Make sure you put a "width" # value that fits with the image, so the text will too. Put the image’s url where it says URL HERE.

<p style="width:400px;">

<img src="URL HERE"><br>
All Your Text Goes Here

</p>

To align two pics side-by-side, use this code:

<p style="white-space:nowrap;">

<img src="URL HERE">
<img src="URL HERE">

</p>
