I had photos transferred from my old computer to my new one which has Vista photo gallery but a lot of the photos were lost but the folders remain. I cant seem to delete these folders. How do I do this
well this is how i do it on my computer. put the mouse on the folder and right click (don’t left click this will just open the folder) a little White box should pop up now you should see delete click it and the folder should disappear. if you won’t the folder back just go to the recycle bin and the folder should be there just right click aging and in the box you should see replace if you click on that it should go back to were it was. but if you won’t it permanently erased go to your recycle bin and right click in the box you should see delete hit that and it will be permanently deleted
well I hope it works and good luck
I’m making a website for an amateur dramatic society that I’m a member of. On the site there is a list of members and a list of the plays that we’ve done. I’d like to upload all of the photos we have from all of the plays to the website but have the gallery searchable so that, for instance, if you clicked on the name of a play it would show you all the photos from that play, or if you clicked on a person’s name it would show you all the photos of that person. If you use IMDB you will see what I mean, I’m after something similar to the way the photos on there work.
What would I need to make something like this? HTML? JavaScript? Flash? I have basic knowledge of each of those. Will it be incredibly complicated or would I be able to get some sample code and adapt it?
Any pointers appreciated!
You don’t need Flash. A database would help (especially if you have gazillions of photos) but it’s not essential.
This can be done with nothing more than HTML / JavaScript. Why don’t you try www [dot] rentacoder [dot] com?
i want to own a photo gallery but dont know if I need to have specific knowledge.
I believe that being a photographer is a liability to being a gallery owner. The same is true of other types of art galleries. What you do need to have is a good eye for what makes a great photo, an ability to put yourself into the heads of your prospective clients to determine the type of photos they want to see, a wide ranging interest in and like of different types of photography, a good business sense, and lots of working capital to keep you open during the lean times which will be long and hard, especially at the beginning.
I wish you the best. There needs to be more quality photo galleries where good photographers can exhibit their work.
I want to add a photo gallery to my website and when you select a photo i would like it to zoom out into a larger image and have a button to go to the next image rather than closing down the zoomed image and selecting another photo to look at. I’m in work experience at the moment so have very limited experience and would appreciate any help you can offer me.
if you really wanna use html you are in for a world of hurt.
it will take hours to make all of the tables and breaks to do it.
to zoom.
you have to make thumbnails of your photos,
you also would have to make a html page for all of the photos you put on your page.
this is the code for just one photo;
gallery page:
<table width="the width of your site usually 764px" height="100%">
<a href="images/ super_cool_photo_page.html" target="_blank"> <img src="thubnail_of_your_photo.jpg"> </a>
</table>
photo page:
<image src="super_cool_photo.jpg"></img>
<a href="images/another_super_cool_photo_page.html> next>></a>
<a href="images="images/that_other_super_cool_photo_page.html> <<previous</a>
you would use less code using java, php or flash.
(I love php but flash is easyer)
I want a cheap / free flash photo gallery to add my photos and create a cd.
You can download a plug in for Adobe photoshop.
"Ulead web plug in" with this plug in u can create animated photo gallary for web, in photoshop itself. And its totally free.
I use that for all my sites.

Since I added a few new images to a picture folder in windows, some aren’t displaying correctly as thumbnails- they show up as a sort of stretched line. If I open them in windows photo gallery they do the same thing, although if I open them in internet explorer they do open correctly. They were all jpegs, all from the same source, and some saved at the same time show up as normal, so I can’t make any sense of it. Can anyone help?
It’s likely your thumbnail cache is corrupted.
To fix this in Vista: Goto "My Computer", right click on the drive the photos are stored and click "properties", then click on "Disk Cleanup". Put a Tick next to "Thumbnails" and then click "Clean up files". Go back to your folder where the photos are stored and press F5 on the keyboard, it should rebuild the thumbnails. If that doesn’t work then it simply doesn’t like the files and there isn’t much you can do.
For XP: In Windows explorer, press the alt key and it should being up the menu. Goto the tools menu and click "Folder Options". Click the "View Tab", and under advanced settings click on the "Show hidden files, folders, or drives" and also clear tick next to "Hide protected operating system files". Click OK, refresh the folder and then delete the thumbs.db file. Refrsh the folder again and it should rebuild the thumbnails.
I am building a website for a haunted attraction and I need to make them a photo gallery that has no ads or says this was made by and then a company name and is fully customizable? I dont want to make a slideshow from photobucket or myspace or sites like that
I am wanting to use Flash or anything like that
just make it yourself. make thumbnails, some nice simple html and css and you’re done.
I know how to make a photo gallery with something like lightbox or other javascript files.
But what should I use to make one that is updatable by the client – easy to use and free. Should be able to add, remove photos, edit their description. Would also like to be able to change their location eg from new section to old section but not essential.
Any suggestions welcome, please include links to download pages and where possible, any how to or dummies guide to. Not feeling very confident at the moment but still sitting here trying!
Thankyou for your help.
I don’t have flash.
Am prepared to deal with php.
Am not looking for something which users of page can add to, only owner of page.
(I have noted that last resource, may be useful for future projects.)
If your web host supports PHP there are some very good pre-made scripts around that are easily configurable – http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rls=com.microsoft%3A*&q=php+image+gallery
When I receive a picture attachment I can open it easily. When I receive a Word Document, it defaults to Windows Photo gallery, how do I open it please?
here is what I do, have the file downloaded onto your desktop, right click, property, right under where the file name is, there is an open with, click on the change and choose microsoft word so you make the file to be opened by microsoft word by default.
