Great “rock&roll” … Great “rock&roll” requires several elements to merge… obviously you need the “tune” (kinda critical) but you also need the “chops” (skill) and then you got the extras- some style, some “theater”, some humor, good looks don’t hurt, and then you need a little bit of “luck” too. This song is clearly all of the above, and while it is clearly not “Punk”… it hints that CT were aware of it. Another fantastic song (just one of about 50) by a band that deserves more credit than they get.
In response to … In response to those arguing as to whether they’re hearing Tom’s bass or Rick’s guitar, don’t go by the video evidence- they are just fake playing along to the recording from the album.
Not trying to be … Not trying to be rude, sun but I have played guitar for over 15 years. My band covered this song and that is not Bass Im hearing. Peace.
haha – yeah this is … haha – yeah this is definitely NOT the version that appears on the record. Could be either a post production touch-up or lip-synch to another version.
Maybe the original … Maybe the original live audio has been replaced with studio recordings. All these “Night Gallery” videos are without a doubt studio recordings.
I’ve listened to … I’ve listened to the album too many times to think this is live. It’s obviously lipsynched. I saw them live during this tour. They were not as commercial as they are now. They were very spontanious. They didn’t do exact live recreations of their recordings. This must have been made for a television show . You can tell by the way the song ends it’s the studio recording. Having an acual audience doesn’t mean it was live either.
i still think this … i still think this is a playback, just look at Nielsen letting off his guitar playing while the original guitar is being heard.

@abebg The album … @abebg The album and this video do not sound 100% similar especially, the backing vocals. Some shows required CT to lip sync. When CT did lip syncing Rick and Tom sang, no where near the mike, lol. In other Night Gallery videos, there are shots of the audience and band. This looks like a real performance.
Are you nuts?! I … Are you nuts?! I love Big Black and Steve Albini but, they had a drum machine named Roland. Cheap Trick not only has a real drummer, Bun is one of the best drummers in rock. Robin’s vocals kick the chit out of Big Black’s singer! Not even close, lol. Big Black’s version is cool but, it’s in no way close to being as good at Trick’s.
