It really depends on the type of gallery and the type of art you do and they specialize in.

If you’re an abstract artist and they specialize in modern art for God’s sake don’t show up in a little cute pants suit or business suit. Look like an artist on the edge.

If you’re carrying in Americana, Kincaid type work, go more conservative in your dress and manner. Act the happy housewife part.

Something that represents who you are and shows confidence in what you are about and what you do. You want to keep it simple but yet showing your own style. Black is always a good choice.

It depends of the time of the day, and your personality. I would say a casual outfit, along with something distinctive from yourself. I would go with full color, nothing stamped and nice warm pastel colors or plain black. And a hint of red or another vivid color to bring it to life;maybe in the accesories.

cool! congratulations! okay lets see. designer for sure. as high end as you've got. i would wear a slim-fitting pencil skirt, probably grey, and some kind of lacy blouse. or i would wear short sailor shorts and a drapey jersey t shirt. it sort of depends on the gallery. if it's conservative (you do oil pantings of landscapes or portraits or ab-ex or straight photo or figure sculpture) then i'd go for the first look. womanly and together, but au courant. if it's more of a cutting edge type of place i'd dress more trendy and you can throw a little bit of yourself into the outfit. like feel free to wear a studded belt with the dolce and gabbana dress.

Lots of black, with one or two funky accessories.

Black is the art industry’s standard.

(Ex. a pair of black gauchos OR slacks, a black button-up blouse, a silver and gemstone choker, and a turqoise handbag Or beaded tote bag)
(Ex. a black skirt, black boots, a white blouse with a black vest OR a low-cut black blouse over a brightly colored cami-shell, a pair of dangly earrings, and a shawl or pashmina).

Lots of painters, photographers, and fashion designers wear all black when presenting their work…their bodies acting like a dark canvas to contrast against their creations.

I would say a skirt but nothing to flashy. No leopard prints or anything. Also, if it is for an interview the appropriate length is this...if you put a dollar bill sideways right above your knee then there should not be any skin between the dollar and your skirt. this means like 3 inches above your knee approximately

A dark business suit, with the skirt below the knee, a white blouse, little jewellery, pantyhose and shoes. Good Luck

It's an interview. You have to wear a nice suit. But a suit that expresses your personality and your style.

Keep your outfit neutral, nothing too bright or flashy, but nice…I read this somewhere, it’s better to wear colours like khaki, white, white and black, anything in soft tones if you are a female, if you are a male, same thing…don’t wear anything overpowering.

Wear something formal, but also nothing that looks too stiff and starched. You want to create an appearence of easy poise and control, so wear something that bespeaks of professional class, but also suits your personality.
