NASA | Satellites View Growing Gulf Oil Spill

Posted by admin on July 12th, 2010 and filed under images | 25 Comments »

Two NASA satellites are capturing images of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, which began April 20, 2010 with the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon oil rig. This short video reveals a space-based view of the burning oil rig and, later, the ensuing oil spill through May 24. The timelapse uses imagery from the MODIS instrument, on board NASA’s Terra and Aqua satellites. The oil slick appears grayish-beige in the image and changes due to changing weather, currents, and use of oil dispersing chemicals.

Images in this video times series were selected that show the spill most clearly. The full image archive is available at: http://rapidfire.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov

    @h2opower as you …
    @h2opower as you might have suspected i have a sense oh humor but as far as i know the stanly meyer brown gas technology used electric power either from batteries or other, if im buying electrical power im cutting out the brown gas middle man he just adds weight and complexity, you can keep those car engines if you want they only weigh about a thousand pounds engine transmission drive shasft and axiel
    i dont, i think of cars more like a bic lighter without the gas, just a battery and motor

    @HiTechOilCo You’re pretty narrow minded aren’t you. Firstly, how do you know Islam teaches that – have you even read the Quran? Secondly, you need to wake up and come out of the bubble you live in.

    @datzfast Now I …
    @datzfast Now I know you are joking about planets not going back into equilibrium, right? As for plastics the Hemp plant can fully takeover all plastics making, that plant was outlawed for being too good at doing just about everything, not for getting high as the hemp plant really wont get someone high. And believe it or not, I am for the electric car for with this water for fuel technology the home power units can also recharge the batteries, and that is not all. This tech goes much further.

    @h2opower planets dont heal, the air is cleaner now than 50 years ago, one volcano puts out more toxins than the history of mankind and your nuts. ok im joking
    or am i, we dont need to burn water ate the expense of electic power. we just need electic cars period. we dam sure dont need hybrids of any kind and we absolutly need every drop of oil we can get our hands on for the plastic future cars trains planes boats and houses and clothing. and the whole petrochemical complex
    that makes it

    @HiTechOilCo Plus, …
    @HiTechOilCo Plus, if I understood the inventor correctly, NASA also has this technology. They should come out with it now that the coal and oil companies have totally made a mess of the US and the rest of the planet. Look up Stanley A. Meyer or view some of my videos, as the technology exist but after the inventors death in 1998 the technology just stopped for at the time he seemed to be the only one that could make use of water that way. It took me 4-5 yrs to figure out the technology.

  18. h2opower Says:

    @HiTechOilCo Yes, …
    @HiTechOilCo Yes, using plain ordinary water as a fuel. Don’t buy into all the propaganda created by the oil & coal companies for using water as a source of fuel doesn’t consume the water at all for you can recapture it or let it fall back down as rain. In fact you can create pure drinking water with these devices from non potable water. The air will have no more smog in it and that means no more acid rain. Slowly the planet will heal itself of the last 100 plus years of the damage we have done.

  19. HiTechOilCo Says:

    @h2opower – …
    @h2opower – Prepping for use of water? I don’t understand. If you could elaborate please.
    Water as a source of fuel might not be a good way to go, as the worlds population will be outstripping the available water supply as it is. I’ve read articles predicting wars over water supplies in the future.

    @HiTechOilCo I’m …
    @HiTechOilCo I’m using AMSOIL Synthetic for right now, and should be off of using gasoline in about a month or two depending on if the money is right as things are tight at the moment. But I fully understand what Stanley Meyer did to make use of water as a source of fuel now, just need to win the Pepsi Refresh Project grant money to get started on building units for everyone.

    But the main reason for using AMSOIL Synthetic is prepping for use of water as the cars only source of fuel.

  23. bskilla101 Says:

    @HiTechOilCo Well …
    @HiTechOilCo Well which laws did BP break??? Yes BP have ended up clearing the mess up but that does not mean other people will not end up with blame in this.

  24. HiTechOilCo Says:

    @h2opower – Are you …
    @h2opower – Are you using synthetic oils that can be made from grains, barley, natural gas, etc., or are you still using the old fashioned petroleum oils in your vehicles?
