Is it legal to produce screen-printed renderings of copyrighted photographs?

I’m screen printing tshirts and have taken color photos from the internet, removed their backgrounds, removed the color, and made them into silhouette-style images. Is this legal or does this break copyright rules? I intend on selling the shirts, and the images only look about 20% like the original photographs.

It is NOT legal and you could be sued for copyright infringement, especially if you are selling your reproductions of them.
