Where can I find old photographs online?

I’m an artist doing a series on death and I was wondering where I could find 1700’s and 1800’s photographs of people online. Thanks!

The USA’s Smithsonian Museum photo collection is the best free collection of old photos I have found. Browse or search here:
http://smithsonianimages.si.edu/siphoto/siphoto.portal?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=home

Also, doing a Google search for things such as 1800’s photos and similar phrases will help you find sites with a few old photos such as this one:
http://news.webshots.com/album/6451867wAVzFGgVNv

You will find no photographs from the 1700’s because the earliest known photograph is from the early 1800’s.
