Amateur photographer’s space photos intrigue NASA

A father of three from Huddersfield has been telephoned by NASA after he took photos of space, using a cheap camera and a balloon.

    Well if you want to get technical SEDSAT was launched in 1999. It was an actual microsat developed by the Univ. of Alabama in Huntsville with a camera on it. We spent a little more then he did, but then again our Sat is still up there..in fact you may still be able to pick up telemetry on a downlink freq of 437.910. We were the first amateurs. It doesn’t diminish what he accomplished. Shouldn’t rag on him until you can at least replicate it.

    NASA does not want to start doing things the cheap way because it will start a precedent on controlling budgets and take away the mystique of NASA space science.

    If they start going down this road, the public will demand that they be innovative with today’s technologies & be much more financially prudent w/ tax payers $

    It could potentially lead to huge loss of government funding for NASA

    I bet the Men in Black are out to get this guy in the video & shut him up for good with a big payoff.
