How to create amazing photos with water and a bottle – week72

Here’s a really simple strobist technique for you to try at home.

Photography expert Gavin Hoey http://www.gavtrain.com shows you how to create amazing photos using nothing more then a bottle, some water and off camera flash. Just remember to have a towel handy.

Camera: Canon 40D
Speedlite: Canon 580EX
Wireless flash trigger: PT-04
Lens: Canon 24-105L

    Question: at 2:04 you mention that the shutter speed must be the synch speed of your camera. Could you elaborate what this means? Is the synch speed something you adjust on the flash? I guess I do not know what synch speed is.

    What type of bottle is that? I used a soft drink bottle and the water seemed to gush out too quickly. Yours seems to be a nice steady flow.
