What can i do to retrieve the photos from a card of the digital camera that seem to be infected with a virus?

I have been using my computer to download photos from a camera. Then someone brought his card to download photos and burn them on the cd but since then it can no longer read what is in the card. If i put it back in the camera I am able to view the photos. I need help on how i can retrieve my photos.

Your question is a little confusing. I take it there are two cards concerned – yours and your friend’s. Is it your friend’s card that is unreadable? Are you saying that your friend’s card infected your PC with a virus? I would think this very unlikely, unless your friend was not a friend and was being very malicious. Have you done a virus scan on your machine, however? That must be the first thing to do. If that is clear, then it would seem that your card may be corrupted. Have you formatted it? You may need to use a disc recovery program. I use Smart Recovery which is a freeware program from www.convar.com
